Announcements about meetings, personnel changes and other items of interest to the Society should be sent to the Technical Editor, Journal of Animal Science, 309 W. Clark St., Champaign, IL 61820. Approximately 90 days should be allowed from day of submission until receipt of the Journal by the membership. These announcements are edited and published free of charge.

A 2-day Animal Ultrasound Seminar and WET-LAB will be conducted October 13–15, 1989 in Raleigh, NC, under the sponsorship of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the College of Veterinary Medicine of North Carolina State University. The format will include introductory lectures on Ultrasound Science and Scanning Techniques and lectures on the characterization of backfat and loineye size in beef cattle evaluation. Correlation of preslaughter and slaughter measurements will also be discussed. Two 3-hour WET-LABS will be conducted to allow participants the opportunity to apply the information gained during the lectures to live-animal scanning.
