Abstract

Announcements about meetings, personnel changes and other items of interest to the Society should be sent to the Technical Editor, Journal of Animal Science, 309 W. Clark St., Champaign, IL 61820. Approximately 90 days should be allowed from date of submission until receipt of the Journal by the membership. These announcements are edited and published free of charge.

The American Veterinary Medical Association will sponsor a conference titled Veterinary Perspectives on Safety of Foods of Animal Origin on September 19 and 20, 1989 at the Jefferson Auditorium, USDA, Washington, DC. The purpose of the conference is to raise the level of public and government awareness concerning the nation's needs and opportunities regarding the safety of foods of animal origin. Speakers will address current perspectives, microbiological and chemical hazards, opportunities for solutions, and future perspectives. For further information please contact: Dr. John R.
