Western Section ASAS 1988 Extension Award

Abstract

Roger M. Brownson was born in Baker, Montana, and raised on a beef cow-calf ranch near that southeastern Montana town. He received a B.S. in Animal Science from Montana State University in 1960 and a Master of Science in Animal Nutrition from the same institution in 1964, following service in the U.S. Army. He received a Ph.D. in Beef Cattle Management Strategies from the University of Wyoming in 1974.

Dr. Brownson worked as a County Extension Agent in Montana from 1964 until 1969, serving in Roosevelt, Phillips and Carbon Counties. He served as an Assistant Marketing Specialist at Montana State University for two years prior to assuming his current position as Montana Extension Beef Cattle Specialist in 1971. He was promoted to a Full Professor in 1985.

Dr. Brownson's Extension Program is planned and implemented with the objective of helping individual beef cattle producers improve the efficiency of their operation.
