Dr. Keith M. Irvin, Associate Professor of Animal Science at The Ohio State University, is the recipient of the Midwestern Section ASAS Outstanding Young Teacher Award. He was born November 25, 1948 and grew up on a livestock and crop farm in Indiana. He received the B.S. in 1971 in Animal Science from Purdue University. He received the M.S. in 1973 and the Ph.D. in 1975 in Genetics from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Irvin became a faculty member at The Ohio State University in 1975. At Ohio State he received The College of Agriculture Outstanding Young Teacher Award for 198687, The College of Agriculture Outstanding Service to Students Award in 1985, and the Alfred J. Wright Award for Outstanding Student Organization Advising (University Award). He currently teaches two graduate-level population genetics courses, application of genetic principles to swine, an undergraduate genetic improvement course and seminars and independent studies.
Dr. Irvin is a highly dedicated teacher who develops excellent rapport with the students in his classes.
