Midwestern Section ASAS 1988 Younger Animal Scientist Award - Extension

Sponsor: Pitman-Moore, Inc.

Abstract

Scott B. Laudert was born March 13, 1951 and was raised on a farm near Lisbon, North Dakota. He received a B.S. in Animal Science from North Dakota State University in 1973 and his M.S. in nutrition from Kansas State University in 1974. Scott conducted feedlot and forage crop research at the Montana Agricultural Research Center at Huntley, Montana for three years before continuing graduate work at Colorado State University. Dr. Laudert earned his Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition in 1982 and has since been employed as an Extension Livestock Specialist with Kansas State University, stationed in Garden City, Kansas.

Dr. Laudert's professional character can best be described as aggressive, inquisitive, and genuinely concerned for the well-being of animal agriculture and the livestock producer. Early in his extension career, Dr. Laudert fostered a relationship with the feedlot industry and has continued to direct his efforts in that area.

He has coordinated many successful extension programs, including Feedlot Managers Seminars, Feedlot Cowboy Horse Seminars, a Feedlot Secretary Workshop and Management by Objectives Workshops for feedlot managers, all of which have become highly regarded by the Kansas feedlot industry.
