New Books

Abstract

Announcements of new books should be sent to the Technical Editor, Journal of Animal Science, 309 W. Clark St., Champaign, IL 61820. The charge is $50 (minimum) for a 2-inch, one-column announcement plus $25 for each additional inch (or portion of an inch). Announcements will be edited; ordinarily they will not exceed 2 inches.

Inkata Press announces the availability of three books of interest to animal scientists. The subjects of one book, "Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases," edited by R. W. Sutherst, are major constraints to the improvement of livestock productivity. Africa's problems with ticks and tick-borne diseases are extraordinarily complex. Historically, control has caused a continual drain on foreign currency. The book outlines Australia's approach in combatting a similar problem using management programs based on ecological, epidemiological and genetic research. A second book offered is "Goat Production in the Tropics," edited by J. W. Copland. Less documented information is available for goats than for other domestic animals, yet the world goat population is around 500 million.
