Abstract

AMERICAN REGISTRY OF PROFESSIONAL ANIMAL SCIENTISTS

The ARPAS annual meeting was held in St. Louis, MO, April 18–20, 1988. The meeting focused on what is ahead in 1) livestock, ownership, financing, marketing and processing; 2) growth stimulants and feed additives; 3) professionalism and ethics; and 4) technology transfer. Leonard S. Bull, University of Vermont, was elected president and Lee Boyd, American Feed Industry Association, president-elect. T. W. Perry, Purdue University, was re-appointed treasurer and also as historian, and Frank H. Baker, Winrock International, continues as editor of The Professional Animal Scientist. Directors elected were Charles Jordan, North-Central; Richard Frahm, Southern; and Henry Engster, Poultry Science. A new area chapter in Colorado and Wyoming was approved. The current membership of ARPAS was 598 in April, 1988, which represents a 13% increase for the year. The board has approved publication of three issues of The Professional Animal Scientist in 1988, if the number of available papers is sufficient.
