Minutes of the 80th Annual Business Meeting

E. R. Miller, Secretary

Abstract

President C. Brent Theurer opened the business meeting at 8:30 a.m. on July 21, 1988 following the breakfast in Neilson Dining Hall sponsored by Elanco Products and the speaker program in the auditorium of Hickman Hall on the campus of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. President Theurer introduced the current ASAS officers and directors. Minutes of the 79th Annual Business Meeting were approved as published in the Journal of Animal Science, Volume 65, Number 5, pages 1418–1427.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT

President Brent Theurer outlined several of the Society's activities, stressing in particular those outreach activities that allow ASAS to help give leadership to animal agriculture, rather than merely to react to what other forces have created. Accordingly, the ASAS board approved our Executive Vice President's objectives of clearly stating the society's position on important issues and giving ASAS greater visibility in the scientific community, both goals to be reached by focusing on scientific outreach, commodity relations, government interaction and public relations.
