Abstract

Announcements of new books should be sent to the Technical Editor, Journal of Animal Science, 309 W. Clark St., Champaign, IL 61820. The charge is $50 (minimum) for a 2-inch, one-column announcement plus $25 for each additional inch (or portion of an inch). Announcements will be edited; ordinarily they will not exceed 2 inches.

"Animal Production and Environmental Health" (ISBN 0-444-42731-7), edited by D. Strauch, covers a broad scope of topics related to the effects of animal production on the environment and public health. It deals with odor, noise, dust and microbial emissions from animal-producing enterprises. Technical and hygienic aspects of disposal of fecal wastes and waste-waters are covered. The public health impacts of residues of drugs, feed additives and environmental chemicals in the food chain are described. The final chapter deals with the legal aspects of protecting the environment from negative influences of animal production.
