1987 National Block and Bridle Club Outstanding Senior Awards

Abstract

FIRST PLACE

Lydia D. McGill is an Animal Science major from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. She maintained a GPA of 3.73, graduating in the top 4% of a class of 2,777. Lydia was active in the American Junior Shorthorn Association (President, Southeastern Association); FFA (American Farmer Degree, state livestock judging team) and 4-H (state officer and beef winner). Lydia's Block and Bridle Club activities included President, Vice-President, Southeastern Regional Secretary, Editor of scrapbook (fourth place at nationals) and newsletter, delegate to four national meetings, champion showman at Little North American Livestock Show, and chairman of 10 events or committees. Lydia served on or assisted with 58 committees or events during her busy 4 years. Being a successful member of the Clemson livestock judging team (fifth overall at Southeastern Contest) qualified her to judge numerous county shows and one state show. She served as assistant coach of the Clemson livestock team her senior year.
