Abstract

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR ACCREDITATION OF LABORATORY ANIMAL CARE

The involvement of the American Society of Animal Science in the affairs of the American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care continues to be strong. The Society's Special Representative to the AAALAC Board of Trustees (S. E. Curtis) was elected to the AAALAC Executive Committee in December 1986.

The changes in AAALAC structure and office location reported last year have taken place, and the AAALAC Executive Director (A. E. New) is now working extensively on governmental and scientific matters from his office on the campus of the Federation of American Societies of Experimental Biology and Medicine at Bethesda, Maryland.

The AAALAC Council on Accreditation continues to explore ways and means of increasing the Council's activities in animal care programs relating to agricultural science. This has been prompted by the increased interest of institutions that have agricultural research and teaching programs for animal care programs accredited by AAALAC.
