Reports of Special Committees Academic Quadrathlon Committee

Abstract

The Animal Science Academic Quadrathlon continues to thrive at both the local and sectional levels. It stimulates students' interest in fundamental and applied aspects of animal science, and provides an excellent forum for interaction among students and faculty. The Academic Quadrathlon Committee remains convinced that the most important quadrathlons are the local ones held on individual campuses. The sectional contests provide incentive for participation at the local level, and offer students the opportunity to interact with students and faculty from other schools.

This year, faculty members in the Northeast Section progressed toward expansion of their sectional contest to include all four events.

There was a suggestion this year that we consider holding a national quadrathlon for winners of the sectional contests. The Committee sincerely appreciates the enthusiasm for the Academic Quadrathlon that prompted the suggestion. However, we unanimously believe that we should not hold a national contest.
