Announcements of new books should be sent to the Technical Editor, Journal of Animal Science, 309 W. Clark St., Champaign, IL 61820. The charge is $50 (minimum) for a 2-inch, one-column announcement plus $25 for each additional inch (or portion of an inch). Announcements will be edited; ordinarily they will not exceed 2 inches.

Martinus Nijhoff Publishers announces the availability of two books of interest to animal scientists. "Advances in Animal Welfare Science 1986/1987" (ISBN 0-89838-889-9), edited by M. W. Fox and L. Papers supporting animal welfare and rights, as well as those from the opposing viewpoint, are included in this 320-page book. "Biology of Stress in Farm Animals: An Integrative Approach" (ISBN 0-89838-895-3), edited by P. R. Wiepkema and P.W.M. Van Adrichem, contains the proceedings of a Seminar in the CEC programme of Coordination Research on Aninal Welfare, held at Oosterbeek, The Netherlands on April 17–18, 1986.
