Western Section ASAS 1986 Young Scientist Award

Abstract

James R. Males was born on September 28, 1945 in Noblesville, Indiana and was reared in that state. He received his B.S. degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1967, his M.S. degree in Ruminant Nutrition from Michigan State University in 1969 and his Ph.D. in Ruminant Nutrition and Microbiology from The Ohio State University 1973. He was a post-doctoral research associate at Oklahoma State University in the laboratory of Dr. Ronald R. Johnson from 1973 to 1974. Following this post-doctoral training, he assumed a position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Industries at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. In 1978, he joined the faculty in the Department of Animal Sciences at Washington State University, where he currently is Associate Professor.

During his professional career Dr. Males has distinguished himself as a complete scientist, who not only has strong dedication towards generation of applicable and meaningful research, but also has a strong dedication towardstransmitting scientific information to students and producer groups.
