The 78th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Animal Science will be held July 29–August 1, 1986 at Kansas State University, Manhattan.

ATTENTION AUTHORS: Authors wishing to have their manuscript(s) considered for publication in the Journal of Animal Science should submit 2 copies (original and 1 carbon or xerox) of the manuscript to the Editor-in-Chief.

Authors are advised that the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureaux (CAB) Thesaurus is the source document for key words in the Journal of Animal Science. Library and(or) departmental copies can be obtained from: B. M. Blackwell Ltd., Broad Street, Oxford, England OX13BQ. The cost is $105.00 per copy.

The heading "ABSTRACT" has replaced the heading "Summary," which was used in previous volumes.

Authors are requested to return revised copies of manuscripts to Section Editors promptly. Effective January 1, 1986 revisions must be returned within 2 months or the authors will be notified that the paper has been rejected.
