Southern Section ASAS 1985 Extension Award

Abstract

The 1985 recipient of the Southern Section, American Society of Animal Science Extension Award is William G. Luce. Dr. Luce was born on March 21, 1936 at Beaver Dam, Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky and received the B.S. degree in Animal Husbandry in 1958. He pursued graduate study at the University of Nebraska and was awarded the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Nutrition in 1964 and 1965, respectively.

From 1965 to 1968, Dr. Luce served as Extension Swine Specialist at the University of Georgia. In 1968 he joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University and has since served as Oklahoma's only Extension Swine Specialist, with sole responsibility for the total program.

Dr. Luce has made many unique and outstanding contributions towards improvement of swine production in Oklahoma and the nation. He has developed a program that is second to none in scope, intensity, effectiveness and educational impact.
