Abstract

DR. HENNING NIELSEN

Dr. Henning Nielsen died September 16, 1984. He and his family had just recently moved to Jylland, Denmark where Dr. Nielsen was in charge of a new swine research center. He began his research career after an extensive agricultural experience on farms in Denmark and in the U.S. He began his studies in agriculture at the Danish Agricultural University in 1952. He received his diploma in 1955, and was hired as a research assistant at The Research Institute for Swine and Horses in Copenhagen. In 1960, he received his M.S. degree from Iowa State University and returned to the Research Institute for Swine and Horses in Copenhagen where he was promoted to research leader in 1962. He defended his doctorate in1973.

Dr. Nielsen was a member of the British Society of Animal Production and the American Society of Animal Science.

Rex Beresford, Emeritus Professor of Animal Science at Iowa State University, died October 12 in Primghar, Iowa.
