Midwestern Section ASAS 1984 Younger Animal Scientist Teaching Award

Abstract

The 1984 recipient of the Midwestern Section Younger Animal Scientist Teaching Award is Robert A. Easter. Born October 10, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, Easter received an Associate of Arts degree in Agriculture from Southwest Texas Junior College in 1968, a B.S. in Agricultural Education with highest honors from Texas A&M University in 1970, a M.S. in Animal Nutrition from Texas A&M in 1972, and a Ph.D. in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in 1976. He joined the Illinois faculty in 1976 with the rank of Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1980.

Dr. Easter's teaching excellence is well-recognized by undergraduates, graduates and peers. He is a dedicated and effective teacher in the classroom. His lectures are well-organized, based on thorough research of the subject matter and enthusiastically presented to meet clearly defined instructional objectives. He has the enviable ability to translate new research information into meaningful, practical applications for students.
