Western Section ASAS Distuinguished Service Award, 1983

Abstract

Robert A. Bellows was born on August 22, 1934 at Bozeman, Montana and spent his early years working on ranches and farms in the Bozeman area. He married Laura Pasha in 1957 and they now have four children. In 1956, Dr. Bellows earned his B.S. degree from Montana State University, and in 1958, he received an M.S. degree in animal science from the same institution. While at Montana State, he worked for the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station from 1952-1958. His graduate studies were continued under the direction of Dr. L. E. Casida at the University of Wisconsin where he received his Ph.D. in 1962. Following graduation from Wisconsin, Dr. Bellows accepted a USDA research physiologist position at the Livestock and Range Research Station (LARRS), Miles City, Montana and is still employed at that location. He has received several promotions, serving as research scientist, investigations leader, research leader and is currently location leader.
