The Department of Animal Science, Iowa State University is seeking an assistant professor as Extension Livestock Specialist in beef cattle nutrition and management with major emphasis on educational programs relating to the cattle feeding enterprise. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition and a thorough understanding of applied aspects of beef production. Ability to communicate effectively with clientele and with colleagues in team educational efforts is essential. The faculty member will study appropriate research data, interpret and translate data into applied recommendations; write publications and mass media materials; develop teaching aids and displays; train and support area livestock specialists and country agricultural staff members; participate in and conduct state, area and county educational activities; assist individuals with special and unique problems and contribute to program efforts related to computer-aided decision making.
