Reports from Representatives of the Society

Abstract

Fostering another assignment in Scotland prior to the British Society of Animal Production winter meeting 29–31 of March, 1982 provided me the opportunity to represent the American Society of Animal Science. This was indeed a privilege and honor. The meeting was held in the Crown Hotel, Harrogate, England with an attendance exceeding slightly in excess of 450 registered. At the Conference dinner held during the first evening, guests and representatives such as myself were recognized at which time of my introduction it was good to hear the round of applause acknowledging the American Society of Animal Science. A total of 140 papers were presented at this conference. As in the United States, animal welfare is of great concern in relation to the future production of meat and poultry products. I personally want to thank the officers and members of the British Society of Animal Production for the hospitality provided me at their winter meeting.
