Mixed Model Capabilities of LSML761

Walter R. Harvey

The Ohio State University, Columbus 43210

Abstract

LSML76 is a general purpose least squares program that is designed to analyze data under both the fixed linear model and under mixed models. The "usual" restrictions are imposed to obtain estimates of effects for discrete independent variables. Least-squares means and appropriate standard errors are given for all sets of discrete independent variables. Variance and covariance components are estimated using Henderson's Method 3. An analysis of variance is given for each dependent variable and a linear contrast option may be used to obtain tests of significance among the estimated fixed effects. Differences among a set of random effects (either cross-classified or nested) that are confounded with fixed effects being considered may be recovered with a maximum likelihood option.
