Abstract

AAAS, Section O Annual Business Meeting

The Section O Annual Business Meeting agenda included, among other subjects, a request for topics for Science and Science 80 articles, a request for symposium topics for the 1981 meeting and promotion of AAAS Section-O membership.

Subjects suggested for Science and Science 80 feature articles included: Renewable Energy Sources from Agriculture; Technical Developments in Agriculture and the Social Costs; The Office of Technological Assessment; CO2 Levels and Agriculture; and Agricultural Research's Contributions to Society.

Subjects suggested as symposium topics included: Land Grant Colleges—The 1970's and the 1980's; Food Production in a Post-Petroleum Era; Science, Technology and Food for the Future; Food for Foreign Policy; Socioeconomic Impacts of Science and Technology in Agriculture; and Research Needs for a Restructured Agriculture.

Additional topics for articles and symposia are solicited. Just send them to any of the Section O officers or your affiliate representative. Section O membership (agriculture) is relatively small and should be increased since AAAS meetings offer one of the few opportunities for agricultural scientists to gain a broad forum with other scientific disciplines and the public.
