Abstract
Two subordinate committees have been created in the Board for international Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD). They are the Joint Research Committee (JRC), which participates in the administration and development of collaborative research programs, and the joint committee for Agricultural development (JCAD) which develops bilateral efforts to strengthen national agricultural development programs, and their capacity to provide agricultural specialists for these programs.
Collaborative research support programs refer to research jointly supported by AID and collaborating institutions, which generally would involve several institutions and would be organized around the resolution of priority food and nutrition problem. Formally organized components of a given collaborative research support program may be designated as projects. The term collaborative research support program denotes an arrangement which facilitates collaboration among U. S. universities, USDA, U. S. Department of Commerce, USDI, International Centers, other research institutions, private agencies and industry, and institutions in developing countries.
The JRC tentatively has identified several program areas for consideration for these collaborative research support programs.
