Abstract
Description of a Feed Industry Nutritionist
Before addressing the assigned topic, the role of the feed industry nutritionist in determining vitamin and mineral levels, perhaps it would be well to ask the question - what is a feed industry nutritionist? First and foremost, he is a highly qualified nutritionist who, in most cases, owes a real debt of gratitude to one, two, or three of our great universities for the training which he has received. His major responsibility is to conduct research and to set the nutritional standards for one or more categories of feed which are manufactured by his employer.
Seldom, however, are the duties of this individual confined solely to research and formulation. In almost all instances, he also provides technical service to livestock and poultry customers via telephone calls, correspondence, or even personal visits to their production facilities. Almost without exception, he participates in educational activities with his company's salesmen, dealers and customers.
