Tony A. Puglisi won first place in the Awards Papers Competition which was held during the annual meeting of the Southern Section of the American Society of Animal Science in Atlanta this past February. The title of the research paper presented by Mr. Puglisi was entitled "Corpus Luteum Function Following Subtotal Hysterectomy in the Prepuberal Gilt." Tony was born September 22, 1953 in Petersburg, Virginia. He was graduated from a small rural high school in Amelia County, Virginia in 1971, and received a B.S. degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Madison College in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1975. Since the fall of 1975, he has been working toward an M.S. degree in Reproductive Physiology in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science at the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia.
His current research problem is aimed at determining the influence of the uterus on corpus luteum function in the prepuberal gilt.
