Abstract
Body composition was measured at 21, 42 and 56 days of age on mice selected for increased 21-day weight (WWL), increased 21-to 42-day average daily gain (ADGL) and mice from unselected control lines (CL). In spite of substantial differences in growth patterns as a result of 14 generations of selection, there were no major differences in percentage protein, ether extract, moisture or ash among the three selection groups. At 21 days of age, WWL mice had .30% less protein than CL mice and ADGL mice had .92% more moisture than CL mice. ADGL mice had .57% less protein than CL mice at 42 days and .42% less protein at 56 days. All other differences in proportional composition were not significant.
