Abstract

C. Colin Kaltenbach was born in Buffalo, Wyoming. He received his B.S. degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Wyoming in 1961, the M.S. degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Nebraska in 1963 and the Ph.D. degree in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in 1967. Following this he was a Ph.D. Fellow in the Howard Florey Memorial Laboratory at the University of Melbourne, Australia, where he worked under the late Dr. James Goding. In 1969 Dr. Kaltenbach returned to the University of Wyoming as an Assistant Professor of Animal Physiology. He was promoted to associate professor in 1971 and full professor was awarded in 1975.

Dr. Kaltenbach is internationally known as a distinguished scientist. His knowledge of both applied and basic research has had a significant impact in the area of reproductive biology. Research concerning the hypophysectomized ewe has provided a major insight toward understanding the mechanism involved in regulation of ovarian function in domestic animals.
