Abstract

Glen Pehr Lofgreen was born at St. David, Arizona, on September 28, 1919. He was graduated from high school there in 1937. His undergraduate work at the University of Arizona resulted in the B.S. degree in Animal Husbandry in 1944. The M.S. and Ph.D. degrees were obtained at Cornell University in 1946 and 1948, respectively. He served briefly as Assistant Professor of Animal Husbandry at Montana State College in 1948, before moving to the University of California the same year. Dr Lofgreen is currently Professor of Animal Science, University of California, and Nutritionist in the California Agricultural Experiment Station. He was on the Davis campus until 1967 when he moved to the University's Imperial Valley Field Station, El Centro, California where he is in charge of the livestock research program. This has brought him in closer contact with the cattle feeding industry and allowed him to direct his major research efforts to the solution of practical feeding problems.
