F. A. Thrift

University of Kentucky, Lexington 40506

Abstract

A technique for introducing Animal Science students to certain biometric concepts in an undergraduate animal breeding course is described. The approach taken in the teaching of these biometric concepts involves not only methods of calculation but considerable emphasis is placed on their application in terms of describing biological data with special emphasis oriented towards animal breeding; however, all of the biometric concepts have application to other Animal Science disciplines.
