Abstract

Truitt H. Brinsfleld, Jr.

Truitt H. Brinsfleld, Jr. passed away on November 22, 1973 at the age of 35. His tragic death occurred after a courageous 2 month struggle against complications following abdominal surgery. Dr. Brinsfleld was born near Cambridge on the Eastern shore of Maryland. After receiving the B.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1959, he began work at the research center of the U. S. Department of Agriculture, in Beltsville, Maryland, as a Dairy Husbandryman. By simultaneously working for the U.S.D.A. and conducting graduate studies. Dr. Brinsfield earned the Ph.D. degree from the University of Maryland in 1966. At the time of his death, he was a Research Physiologist in the Reproduction Laboratory, Animal Physiology and Genetics Institute. For the past 5 years he had been in charge of the Electron Microscope Unit of the Reproduction Laboratory, conducting investigations which were concerned primarily with the ultra-structure of tissues of the reproductive tract.
