Committee Report

Abstract

I. Retrieval services are currently available for Animal Science users. For example, The Lockheed Information and Retrieval Services provides a complete biographical file of the National Agriculture Library and includes the contents of the NAL catalogue. Over 200,000 citations of agriculturally related material are available for 1972 and 1973, with an anticipated growth of 140,000 new citations per year. It is not recommended at this time that the Society develop a retrieval service for Animal Science but rather make sure that Animal Science data/literature can be most quickly retrieved by existing systems.

II. Computer indexing systems for applicability to Animal Science publications (KWlC, for example) which would take the labor out of publishing indexes and would provide a cross reference to topics both published and given at the annual meeting should be reviewed.

III. Possible publishing changes that might be considered for the future.

A 1. Publish only abstracts in the traditional format.
