Western Section A.S.A.S. Distinguished Service Award

Abstract

JAMES E. OLDFIELD was born August 30, 1921, at Victoria, B.C., Canada. He attended University of Victoria, 1937 to 1938, University of British Columbia, 1939 to 1941 (B.S.A.), 1946 to 1949 (M.S.A.), and Oregon State University, 1949 to 1951 (Ph.D)

He was an Instructor at the University of British Columbia during the year 1948 to 1949. He joined the faculty at Oregon State University in 1951 as an Assistant Professor, and moved rapidly to the rank of Professor in the Department of Animal Science in 1958. He is presently Head, Department of Animal Science, Oregon State University.

Dr. Oldfield has served the cause of Animal Agriculture well during his carrer as a teacher, a researcher and an administrator. He has served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Animal Science, as Secretary-Treasurer of the Western Section, A.S.A.S., and as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the A.S.A.S. He is an active member of a number of scientific societies and has taken the leadership in organizing important national and international meetings.
