Abstract

Placement Committee

The second year operation of the Placement Committee excelled all expectations for positions available and available personnel at the annual meeting of A.S.A.S. at Lincoln, Nebraska, 1973. There were 60 positions available; 84 Applicants; 190 Interviews Scheduled. Positions Available were as follows: Animal Breeding 5; Animal Nutrition 10; Meat Science 8; Physiology of Reproduction 9; Extension 11; Other 17. The period of August 1973 through April 1974, 38 job opportunities and 20 prospective employees were advertised in the J.A.S.

The Office of Equal Opportunity was informed of the efforts of the A.S.A.S. in the area of Placement, provided forms we use, objectives, and procedures and asked for their advice. They replied as follows: "The material you provided indicates that the Placement Committee is attempting to provide a useful service free of sex or race biases".

We plan to function as a Placement Service at the annual meeting in College Park, Maryland, July 28 to 31, 1974, if facilities and personnel are available.
