Southern Section A.S.A.S. Distinguished Service Award

Abstract

Tony J. Cunha, recipient of the 1974 Distinguished Service Award for A.S.A.S, Southern Section, was born August 22, 1916, at Los Banos, California. He attended California Polytechnic Institute at San Luis Obispo and received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Utah State University. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree in 1944 from the University of Wisconsin, working in the area of Swine Nutrition.

He is married to the former Gwen Smith, and Dr. Marvin Koger, Dr. Tony Cunha they have three lovely daughters. The recipient was on the staff of the Animal Husbandry Department at Washington State University from 1944 to 1948. He came to the University of Florida in 1948 to teach and to do research in Animal Nutrition. Since 1950 he has been Departmental Chairman, responsible for the teaching, research, and extension programs throughout the state, and eight branch stations.
