Abstract
Three hundred and thirty-five weanling rats and 24 growing pigs were used in five experiments to determine the limiting amino acids of three lines of triticale. When fed to rats as the sole source of protein at a 10% protein level, triticale was first limiting in lysine, second limiting in threonine and marginal in sulphur amino acids. At a 14.4% protein level, one line was limiting in lysine only while another was limiting in both lysine and threonine. In the case of the pig, when triticale was used as the only source of dietary protein, it was first limiting in lysine and second limiting in threonine.
