Abstract

Sperm from four ejacula from each of four bulls were electrophoresed at 8 and 21 V/cm in 10% yolk-0.10M phosphate (pH 7.10) for 1 min. at 35°. After electrophoresis, semen from the anode and from the cathode was glycerolated, frozen and used for inseminations. Whether the sperm were taken from the anode or cathode did not influence significantly the percent male calves resulting from these inseminations; we found 55% males among 121 calves from anode sperm, 44% males among 137 calves from cathode sperm and 44% males among 50 calves from unelectrophoresed control sperm.
