Abstract

Safety is a major responsibility of the Food and Drug Administration. Safeguarding the consumer was the fundamental impetus for enacting the original Pure Food and Drug Act, and thus for establishing the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). At present, our responsibilities include human, animal and environmental safety.
