Abstract

A single injection of 1,500 IU of PMS following synchronization of estrus in gilts resulted in a significant (P<.01) increase in litter size at day 70 of gestation. Gilts injected with PMS to induce super-ovulation had an average of 12.9 more corpora lutea and 2.5 more live fetuses than control gilts. There was little difference between treatments in mean fetal weight at day 70 of gestation.
