Abstract
My purpose has not been to recommend a Doctorate teaching degree. Rather, my purpose has been to discuss the degree. I have offered a definition, some evidence of need that might be cited, suggested curriculum components, a few thoughts about entrants into a curriculum, some examples, and a suggestion regarding who should offer such a degree, if it is deemed desirable.
The pros and cons are inherent in the topics that have been discussed.
1 Presented at the Teaching Section of the meetings of the Midwestern Section of the American Society of Animal Science, Chicago, Illinois, November 27, 1970.
2 Dean, College of Agriculture and Biological Sciences and Director of Experiment Station.
