Abstract
Mink were given sequential daily injections of luteinizing hormone or saline carrier alone and the effect on the embryos noted 1 day later or on the neonates at parturition. Controls consisted of equal numbers of animals also given hormone or saline carrier but only as a single injection.
Pregnancies were terminated in 13 of the 14 animals receiving multiple injections but the same effect was not observed in the singly injected animals. These results are interpreted as responses to the stress of handling and treatment.
