Abstract
Question: Bellows
Dr. Wagner, in your first two slides it was not clear to me about the number of ovulations per cow. Will you please explain? Wagner: In those first two slides, we calculated the number of ovulations per cow utilizing only those animals which had at least one ovulation. In other words, if only three animals had ovulated by day 56, then the mean number of ovulations was calculated only on those three. The other six were not included, so that we had, as in the suckled group, three of the eight animals ovulated by day 56, the mean number of ovulations was 1.0 which means that each of those three had only one ovulation.
Question: Bellows
Is this per estrus or are you implying there were multiple ovulations? Wagner: No, this is the total number of ovulations during the interval.
Question: Hansel
Dr. Wagner, are you suggesting that the increased cortisol after oxytocin injections in your first experiment was due to the vasopressin contained in the preparation used and that pure oxytocin (synthetic oxytocin) does not give you the response?
