Abstract

DES loses estrogenic potency when added and stored in mixed feeds, and this loss of potency was reflected in the growth response of lambs fed rations containing DES. Plasma urea nitrogen levels were reduced and serum growth hormone levels were elevated in lambs fed DES. The apparent mechanisms of DES in stimulating weight gain in lambs is discussed.
