Abstract
It is a pleasure to have an opportunity to address this group whose interest in chemical agents designed to enhance agricultural production, especially in the animal husbandry field, parallels my interest in chemical agents with desirable pharmacological properties in the field of human health.
I first want it clearly understood that I speak to you entirely as an individual and what I say must in no way be construed as representative of any idea or position the organization by which I am employed may have on any matters touched upon.
I must also make it clear that I have no personal experience in the field of feed additives since my total experience, both in animals and with man, has dealt with drugs. It is true that some of the drugs which I studied did turn out to have effectiveness in the field of veterinary medicine.
Thus you will understand why I found it necessary to consult, among other sources, the prescription drug industry Fact Book put out by the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PMA).
