Abstract

When embryos were transferred to the uterine horn either ipsilateral or contralateral to the CL or into one uterine horn in ewes with a CL on both ovaries there was no evidence of a local unilateral relationship between the uterus and the ovaries. When the uterus was completely autotransplanted to the omentum, ewes continued to show estrus regularly demonstrating that direct local nervous and vascular connections between the uterus and ovary are not necessary for regression of the CL. Embryos transferred to the transplanted uterus did not survive.
