A Quick Method for Taking Biopsy Samples of the Skin

Robert J. Schied, Ethel H. Dolnick and Clair E. Terrill1

U. S. Department of Agriculture,,2 Beltsville, Maryland

Abstract

A new technique is described for the taking of skin biopsy samples in a fast and efficient manner. The device used is a biopsy gun which contains the feature of rotary motion, a requisite for accurate sampling. Triggering the gun against the skin of the animal produces the sample instantaneously. Since the wound is small, the healing process is rapid.
