Abstract
The relationship between crude protein (CP) and digestible protein (DP) percentages was studied over a range of four protein levels in the diets of horses, rabbits and guinea pigs. The relationships could be described by linear regression equations which for these species respectively were:
The use of metabolic fecal protein (MFP) as an index of adaptability to low protein intakes is discussed and it is tentatively suggested that horses are potentially as well adapted as cattle and sheep while rabbits and guinea pigs are not.
