Abstract

Studies of the urinary execretion of substances which affect fat mobilization were conducted. The only adipokinetic active substance was of a low molecular weight (<385) and reacted positively to qualitative chemical tests for catecholamines. A net antiadipokinetic or insulin-like activity was found more frequently in the urine. The presence of this activity was dependent upon a prior feeding of a diet containing 50% concentrate. The antiadipokinetic substance (s) were of a molecular size smaller than insulin and larger than Evans blue (985). The significance of these observations is discussed.
