Abstract
At the present time post-war planning is an important subject of the day, although the war has not yet been won. War is a period when peace-time knowledge and organization are put to the test. Their failures are sign posts for future correction. Such sign posts have been encountered already in the fields of agriculture and biology. If heeded and corrected, they may be placed on the credit side of war against its enormous debit.
As a background for the thesis here presented I have drawn heavily on the findings of Dr. Robert F. Griggs, Chairman of the Committee on Biology and Agriculture of the National Research Council. The tireless efforts of this champion of scientific agriculture have succeeded in setting forth clearly the present status of biology and agriculture. From this foundation we may find a suitable program for the future.
