Abstract
Lambs were subjected to insulin treatment, and they exhibited varying degrees of tolerance. Variation in tolerance toward insulin was noted when the animals were treated intramuscularly each day and observed for clinical signs of hypoglycemia. Similar variations among animals were observed during studies of acute insulin tolerance where the level of blood glucose was monitored for several hours after the injection of insulin. In both types of studies, the tolerance toward insulin was found to be correlated with ruminal development.
